The Delaware Municipal Court is warning citizens about fraudulent telephone calls claiming that the recipient failed to appear for jury duty.

Scammers may impersonate court employees, judges, law enforcement officers, or other government officials and threaten arrest, fines, or other penalties unless immediate payment is made.

These calls are not authorized by the Delaware Municipal Court.

Citizens should not provide:

• Credit or debit card information
• Bank account information
• Social Security numbers
• Personal identifying information
• Gift cards, cryptocurrency, or other payments

Scammers may also use caller-ID spoofing or provide fake case numbers to make the call appear legitimate.

If you receive a suspicious jury-duty call, hang up and do not return the call using a number provided by the caller. Instead, independently contact the Delaware Municipal Court using verified Court contact information.

When in doubt, hang up and verify.
