Residents

The Berkshire Township JEDD and JEDD II collect a 1.85 percent tax on income earned by resident individuals and resident businesses; and non-resident individuals and non-resident businesses earning income in JEDD and JEDD II.

Berkshire Township JEDD and JEDD II both have mandatory filing for residents. All residents are expected to file a tax return by April 15 each year, even if no tax is due.

A six-month extension is available to all individual taxpayers by filing a written extension request before the return due date, or by filing a federal extension copy with their JEDD return. Note, an extension of time to file the return is not an extension of time to pay any tax due. Tax paid after the original return due date will be subject to a 15% penalty, plus interest.

Residents aged 65 and older who have retired, or have only non-taxable income, can be exempted from having to file an annual return. Contact the income tax office for additional information by email, or by phone at 740-203-1225.

While residents must file a tax return annually, they may have to pay their taxes more frequently.  Quarterly estimated tax payments are required of some taxpayers who don’t have Berkshire Township JEDD tax withheld on their wages.  Click here for more information.
