4th of July

Independence Day in the City of Delaware


Join the City of Delaware for a full day of fun, music, and fireworks to celebrate our nation's independence! All events take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

11 a.m. – Independence Day Parade
The parade steps off from the Fairgrounds’ main gate and heads to Sandusky Street, then through downtown to Wilmer Street, then to S. Henry Street. Bring your flags and cheer on the community!

7:30 p.m. – Central Ohio Symphony Concert
Enjoy an evening of free music on the Phillips Glen lawn at Ohio Wesleyan University. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and settle in for this Delaware tradition! Central Ohio Symphony

10 p.m. – Fireworks
Cap off your night with a spectacular fireworks display launching from the City’s Cherry Street property. Great views can be found along Henry Street and the OWU athletic fields.

  • Food truck vendors will be set up on Hayes Street and begin serving about 5 pm. 
  • Portable restrooms will be available in the Building and Grounds parking lot by the OWU football practice field, in the Harrison- Henry Street parking lot, and in the OWU softball field parking lot.

City offices are closed Friday, July 3. There will be no refuse collection delays.
