DELAWARE, Ohio — The City of Delaware is celebrating another major business expansion that will bring new investment, jobs, and advanced manufacturing opportunities to the community.
The Wieland Group will invest $15 million to establish a second production facility in Delaware, creating 100 new jobs as demand continues to grow for high-performance cooling equipment used by data centers.
The company will operate the new facility at 115 Innovation Court, occupying approximately 100,000 square feet, while continuing production at its existing Delaware location at 600 London Road. The 100 new jobs are expected to generate more than $6.7 million in annual payroll. Wieland's existing Delaware operation currently employs 31 people with an annual payroll of approximately $2.1 million.
The new facility will manufacture heat exchangers that remove heat from cooling systems, helping data centers operate reliably and efficiently. Wieland's technology is designed to provide greater cooling capacity while reducing the amount of material and refrigerant required.
The Delaware operation became part of the global Wieland Group through the company's 2024 acquisition of Onda S.p.A. Founded in Germany in 1820, Wieland operates more than 80 locations worldwide, including 44 in North America.
"Demand for high-performance data center cooling is accelerating, and this investment gives us the capacity to grow with our customers," said Rodrigo De Luca, VP of Wieland Onda, Global. "Our existing Delaware team has built a strong foundation for this next phase. Adding a second location will allow us to increase production and create new careers while strengthening Wieland's data center cooling business in North America."
Wieland brings more than 30 years of experience in heat transfer technology and serves data center, commercial building and industrial markets.
"More great news for Delaware," said Mayor Carolyn Kay Riggle. "Wieland's decision to add a second manufacturing facility reflects the strength of the company's experience in our community. This $15 million investment will create 100 new career opportunities and connect Delaware to one of the world's fastest-growing technology markets. We are proud that a global company sees Delaware as the right place for its continued growth."
Wieland's investment is the latest in a series of major expansion announcements that continue to demonstrate Delaware's growing appeal as a place for companies to invest and grow.
Earlier this year, PPG announced a $280 million expansion of its Delaware manufacturing facility, including a new 100,000-square-foot automotive coatings production facility and the creation of 100 new full-time jobs. Sam Dong Ohio also announced a $13 million expansion that will create 30 new jobs.
Together, these investments represent hundreds of millions of dollars being committed to Delaware and more than 230 new jobs. While each company operates in a different industry, their decisions share something in common: they see opportunity in Delaware.
