DELAWARE, Ohio – Community members are invited to help protect one of Delaware's greatest natural resources during the City of Delaware's Annual Olentangy River Clean-Up on Saturday, August 15, from 9 a.m. to noon at Mingo Park.

The annual event brings volunteers together to remove litter and debris from the Olentangy River, helping preserve the waterway for wildlife, recreation, and future generations.

Registration is required, and participation is limited to ensure a safe and well-managed event. Those interested in volunteering can register online at:

The City will provide all cleanup equipment, including gloves, trash grabbers, and trash bags. Participants should expect to wade through portions of the river while collecting litter and debris. River conditions may include slippery rocks and uneven footing, so volunteers should be prepared for walking in shallow water.

Participants are encouraged to wear:

  • Sturdy, closed-toe shoes that can get wet
  • Clothing suitable for getting wet or dirty

Bare feet and flip-flops are not permitted.

Volunteers should also bring sunscreen, sunglasses or a hat, insect repellent, and a reusable water bottle. Those with kayaks or canoes are encouraged to bring them, as they can be helpful for transporting larger or waterlogged debris.

Questions about the event can be directed to Lisa Roberts, Watershed and Sustainability Coordinator, at lroberts@cityofdelawareoh.gov.
