Delaware, Ohio – As America commemorates its 250th anniversary, the City of Delaware is proud to announce the successful completion of its annual fireworks fundraising campaign, thanks to the continued generosity of local businesses and community partners. The achievement ensures that residents and visitors can once again enjoy a safe, festive, and patriotic Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 4.

This year's celebration carries added significance as communities across the nation mark the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. Delaware's Independence Day traditions offer an opportunity to reflect on our nation's history while celebrating the community spirit that continues to define America.

The day-long event will feature Delaware's cherished traditions, including the July 4 Parade, a stirring outdoor concert, and the spectacular fireworks finale.

"This celebration is one of the highlights of our year, and we're incredibly thankful for the sponsors and community partners who help make it possible," said Mayor Carolyn Kay Riggle. "As our nation commemorates 250 years of independence, events like this remind us of the importance of community, civic pride, and the traditions that bring generations together. Their ongoing support allows us to host a day full of family-friendly fun that celebrates both our country and our hometown."

This year's fundraising campaign met its $25,000 goal to help pay for fireworks. City funds will provide essential services such as public safety, sanitation, and traffic control for the day's events.

Independence Day Schedule of Events

11 a.m. – July 4 Parade
The parade will step off from the Delaware County Fairgrounds' main gate on Pennsylvania Avenue, proceed down Sandusky Street through historic downtown, to Wilmer Street, and conclude at S. Henry Street. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early for the best viewing spots. More information.

7:30 p.m. – Central Ohio Symphony Concert
The Symphony's much-anticipated outdoor performance returns to the Ohio Wesleyan University campus on the Phillips Glen lawn west of Selby Stadium. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets. More information.

10 p.m. – Fireworks Finale
Delaware's dazzling fireworks show will launch from the City's Cherry Street property, with ideal viewing areas along Henry Street and the OWU athletic fields.
