DELAWARE - In May 2026, letters started going out to residents notifying them that the City of Delaware’s Electric Aggregation Program is ending. Voters approved electric aggregation in 2022, authorizing City Council to negotiate group electric supply pricing on behalf of residents and small businesses. The City chose Energy Alliances as the consultant to find the best supplier for the City's needs. The Electric Aggregation Program, launched in July 2023, has delivered savings for residents and small businesses.
Continuing the program's success, the City signed a new agreement in April 2025 with Dynegy to serve as the electric aggregation supplier for a 12-month period, starting with the July 2025 billing cycle and running through June 2026.
In early 2026, Energy Alliances completed a review of electric supply rates in comparison with AEP Ohio and Ohio Edison’s default generation rates for June 2026 and beyond. After evaluating available supplier offers, Energy Alliances were unable to secure a price and product (renewable energy component) that City Council wanted to move forward with.
What This Means for Residents
• The City’s electric aggregation program will end in June 2026.
• All accounts currently enrolled in the program will automatically return to the local utility’s (AEP Ohio or Ohio Edison) default generation supply.
• No action is required on your part for this transition.
Looking Ahead
Energy Alliances will continue to monitor electricity market conditions for a price and product that meets Council expectations. If conditions become favorable, Energy Alliances will recommend restarting the aggregation program and will share updates with the community.
