City Transitioning to Official .gov Domain

Post Date:01/07/2026 3:21 PM

The City of Delaware will officially transition to a .gov domain on January 30, 2026, helping to strengthen cybersecurity and reinforce the City’s official online presence.

Beginning on that date, the City’s new official website and email domain will be: cityofdelawareoh.gov. In addition, the Delaware Municipal Court will also move to a new official .gov domain: delawarecityohmunicipalcourt.gov.

To ensure a smooth transition, the City’s and Court’s current domains will remain active through July 30, 2026. During this period, residents and partners may continue to use existing email addresses and links while updating their records.

Starting in January, emails sent from @delawareohio.net and @muncipalcourt.org addresses include a disclaimer notifying recipients of the upcoming change and encouraging them to begin directing correspondence to the new @cityofdelawareoh.gov and @delawarecityohmunicipalcourt.gov addresses as of January 30, 2026.

Why the Change?
The .gov domain is reserved exclusively for verified government entities and is widely recognized as more secure and trustworthy. Transitioning to a .gov domain will:

  • Enhance protection against phishing, spoofing, and other cyber threats
  • Reinforce the City’s identity as an official government organization
  • Align with best practices for public sector cybersecurity
  • Support eligibility for certain grant programs critical to City services

“We appreciate the community’s cooperation as this transition moves forward and we look forward to delivering enhanced security, trust, and service through its new official .gov domain,” City Manager Paul Brake said.
