The Delaware Police Department’s police mountain bike patrol is made up of 14 officers. Each officer is assigned to the patrol diviBike_Patrolsion. The bike patrol is used for general patrol and special events, such as parades and festivals. In addition, members have taken an interest in bicycle safety programs.

Bike Patrol School
The department offers a week-long bike patrol school for police agencies. This course follows the curriculum for the International Police Mountain Bike Association’s (IPMBA) Police Cyclist Course. It covers bike handling skills, obstacle clearing, bike maintenance, patrol procedures, uniforms and equipment, firearms and much more. For registration information or course dates, contact
