Shelters and Gazebos

Residents are able to reserve shelters and gazebos located in seven Delaware City parks. Rental inquires may be made to at the Parks and Natural Resources Department at 440 E. William St. or by calling 740-203-1810 Monday thru Friday from 7 am to 4 pm.

Fields, Indoor Facilities or Pools

Rentals for sports fields, the Hilborn Room at Mingo Park, National Guard facilities or the Jack Florance Pool may be made at the Mingo Park Recreation Center Office at 500 E. Lincoln Ave. Monday thru Friday from 8 am to 8 pm, and on weekends from noon to 7 pm. Inquires may be made to 740-203-3051 or by email.

Our Parks

  • Bicentennial Park is located east of the City of Delaware fire station at 99 S. Liberty St., Delaware 43015 between Spring St. and Park Ave. and has one available rental, limited on street parking and the following amenities:
    • Bicentennial Park Gazebo is an open-air structure with limited picnic table seating, but has ample green space for lawn chair seating. This structure has electric, but no restrooms available. The gazebo sits in the middle of the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University and within short walking distance of Downtown Delaware.

 

  • Blue Limestone Park is located via John St. off Elizabeth St. or via King Ave. (entrance only) off W. William St. just west of the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University campus in Delaware and has two available shelter rentals with limited parking and the following amenities:
    • Lower Shelter is an open-air shelter with picnic table seating for up to 90 people. This shelter has electric and a charcoal grill. Permanent restrooms, a large playground structure, pickleball courts and public fishing pier are located nearby.
    • Upper Shelter is an open-air shelter located approximately 75 yards from the Lower with picnic table seating for up to 50 people. This shelter has a charcoal grill, but does not have electric.

 

  • Eastside Neighborhood Park is located just south of E. William St. between Kurrley and Wade Streets on Rheem St. and has one available shelter rental with limited parking and the following amenities:
    • Eastside Park Shelter is an open-air shelter with picnic table seating for up to 70 people. This shelter has electric and a charcoal grill. A playground structure, basketball court and minimal field space are located nearby. This shelter does NOT have permanent restrooms, but does have a portable restroom available during youth baseball/softball seasons.

  • Ross Street Park is located on Ross St. between S. Liberty and Noble Streets and has one available rental, a public parking lot nearby, limited on street parking and the following amenities:
    • Ross Park Gazebo is an open-air structure with limited picnic table seating, but has park benches and adequate green space for lawn chair seating. This structure has electric, but no restrooms available. The gazebo sits just south of the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University and within walking distance of the downtown area.

 

  • Smith Park is located at 1302 Troy Rd., Delaware 43015 and has two available shelter rentals with ample parking and the following amenities:
    • North Shelter is an open-air shelter with picnic table seating for up to 50 people. This shelter has electric and a charcoal grill. Permanent restrooms, a playground structure, both tennis and basketball courts as well as ample field space are located nearby.
    • South Shelter is an open-air shelter with picnic table seating for up to 90 people. This shelter has a charcoal grill, but does not have electric. A large exercise structure, walking trail and pond are located nearby. Permanent restrooms are conveniently located in the concession building within short walking distance of this shelter.

  • Veteran’s Park is just east of the Delaware Community Center YMCA/National Guard Armory located at 1121 S. Houk Rd., Delaware 43015 and has one available shelter rental with ample parking and the following amenities:
    • Veteran’s Park Spray and Play Shelter is the newest (June 2016) shelter in our park network with picnic table seating for up to 100 people. This shelter has electric, a large charcoal grill, a large stone fireplace inside and a small open-faced stone fireplace just outside the shelter (wood not provided). Permanent restrooms are conveniently located nearby along with our recently constructed Splash Pad and the latest in playground structures adjoining.

 

  • Mingo Park is located at 500 E. Lincoln Ave., Delaware 43015 and has two available shelter rentals with ample parking and the following amenities:
    • Rotary Shelter is an open-air shelter located approximately 75 yards from the 3 Season with picnic table seating for up to 90 people. This shelter has electric and a large charcoal grill. Permanent restrooms are conveniently located in the nearby 3 Season Shelter.
    • 3 Season Shelter is the only fully enclosed shelter in our park network with picnic table seating for up to 100 people. This shelter has electric, ceiling fans, a drinking fountain, plenty of counter space, a sink with running water and a stone fireplace (wood not provided). A large charcoal grill is located just outside the shelter for outdoor grilling. Permanent restrooms and a large playground structure are located on the north side of this shelter for your convenience. The 3-Season Shelter is an enclosed shelter available from April 1 through the end of October.
    • Hilborn Room This multi-purpose room, located in the Mingo Park Complex, is available for individuals, organizations and businesses. It is ideal for meetings, family reunions, wedding receptions or showers, birthday parties, and much more. The room dimensions are 48′ x 48′ with a maximum capacity of 100 people. A kitchen is available to rent for an additional fee from May 1- October 1. Email for a Rental Request Form or additional information
    • Jack Florance Pool The Jack Florance Pool at Mingo Park is available for your group or family summer event with a two-hour minimum after regular hours on weekends between 7:30 – 10:30 pm, or weekdays between 8:30-10:30 pm. Email for a Rental Request Form or additional information
