Beggars’ Night in the City of Delaware is Saturday, October 31, 6-8 pm, rain or shine. Under a theme of “Give Candy, Not Covid,” let’s make sure trick-or-treating can safely happen with some basic precautions. These include:

Do not participate if feeling sick

If you live with people who may be at greater risk from COVID-19, please reconsider participating

Masks should be worn at all times

Stay with family unit and in your own neighborhood if possible

Stay six feet away from other families

One family at a time when approaching participating houses

Use hand sanitizer frequently during collection

Collection bag should have wide opening to allow giver to drop treat inside

Do not eat any candy while participating

If possible, wipe off candy wrappers with sanitizing wipes when arriving home and prior to eating candy Wash your hands before eating any candy


Those Passing Out Candy:

Do not pass out candy if feeling sick

Wash hands prior to passing out treats

If possible, place table or other type of physical object between you and beggar

Do not allow beggars to take candy – place it in their bag for them

If able, prepare goodie bags ahead of time

Only hand out prepackaged, factory-wrapped items. Do not hand out homemade-wrapped treats
