General Information
The philosophy of the Recreation Services Department is to develop and implement programs and activities and provide programs in partnership with other groups and organizations. We also strive to provide citizens with information about other leisure services in the community.

The Department of Recreation Services is responsible for the development, programming, and maintenance of an extensive and growing park system with a wide variety of facility types. In addition to the parks it owns and manages, the City also administers recreation programs at several public school sites. Delaware offers a variety of community, neighborhood, and special use areas such as the Hidden Valley Golf Course within the City. Overall, Delaware owns and maintains a total of 352 acres of parkland. Of this, 212 acres are developed for active and passive uses. Currently, there are 140 acres of undeveloped parks, including natural resource areas, most of which is attributed to parkland dedications from new residential growth areas.
