The City of Delaware Police Department Citizens Police Academy gives enrollees a taste of what police work is all about and includes opportunities to ride with officers, investigate a mock crime scene, search buildings filled with "suspects" and have someone answer all of those, "I wonder why they do that" questions.

The 11-week academy meets Thursdays from 6:30-9 p.m. Students are instructed on such topics as criminal law, patrol procedures, criminal justice system, drug investigation, traffic stops, building searches, firearms, domestic violence, and criminal investigation.
