About the Department: The Police Department is the largest department of the City of Delaware. There are 61 full-time employees and two part-time employees. The department annually handles nearly 70,000 calls for service. In most cases, especially during non-business hours, the department is the primary resource for citizen contact regarding emergency and non-emergency needs.


Delaware Police Department: The department is a strong member of the citywide "team". Consistent with the concept of community policing, the department endeavors to assist citizens in eliminating the underlying causes of crime, conflicts or safety hazards by assisting in the coordination of a concerted effort involving various branches of city government such as Public Works, Fire Department, Planning Department, the Prosecutor's Office and the Municipal Court. The Police Department also works closely with the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The department provides round-the-clock service and is made up of patrol ,various administrative, detective, records/communications and support personnel.
