The department maintains and repairs the roadway system, traffic signals and traffic control signage, street lighting in the downtown business district and new residential sub-divisions; provides collection of refuse, recyclable materials, and yard waste, monitors closed landfills for EPA compliance; maintains all vehicles and equipment within the City's fleet and provides City building and facility maintenance. The oversight of the Delaware Municipal Airport is also a function of this department.
