About the Board
The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is composed of seven volunteer members, consisting of two at-large members, one resident member from each of the four wards, and one member of Council. Each resident member is an elector of the City and holds no elective office. All members are chosen by the Mayor and confirmed by Council. The City Manager is an ex-officio member/advisor without a vote. As a quasi-judicial board, the BZA has powers and duties unlike other Boards, Commission, and City Council.
