Delaware Citizens Academy
The Delaware Citizens Academy is a program in which Delaware residents receive nearly 20 hours of instruction and learn about city operations and departments. The Academy consists of nine sessions, running from February through May. The two-hour classes meet on Thursdays (and one Saturday), about twice a month.

Session 1 Thursday, Feb. 12 – City Manager/Council (Council chambers)
Session 2 Thursday, Feb. 26 – Planning (Council chambers)
Session 3 Thursday, March 12 - Economic Development (Council chambers)
Session 4 Thursday, March 26 – 6-8:30 pm Public Works and Transportation Issues (Public Works facility)
Session 5 Saturday, April 4 – 9:30-11:30 a.m. – Fire (Station 303)
Session 6 Thursday, April 16 – Public Utilities (Water Treatment Plant)
Session 7 Thursday, April 30 – Parks/ YMCA, 1121 South Houk Road (Community Room at YMCA)
Session 8 Thursday, May 14 – Police (Justice Center)
Session 9 Thursday, May 28 – Finance (Council chambers)
Graduation Monday, June 8 – 6:30 p.m. – (Council chambers)
