The City Attorney for Delaware is appointed to the position by the City Manager. The City Attorney is the legal advisor and counsel for the City and for all its officers and departments in all matters relating to their official duties and powers. As such, the City Attorney prosecutes or defends the City in all civil cases in which it is a party. And he is responsible for the preparation of all contracts, bonds, and other written instruments in which the city is concerned and approves the form and correctness thereof.
